The engineers and officers of the State power sector organisations began a relay Satyagrah at Gridco headquarters office here on Monday against the disparity in pay revision and discrimination in payment of house rent and medicine allowance.
Odisha Power Engineers and Executives (Officers) joint forum convenor and All Odisha Power Engineers Federation secretary general Brahmaprakash Paital said the authorities have been following different pay revision dates for executives and non-executives, though such a policy is not followed by any organisation throughout India.
Paital alleged that in the last pay revision order issued on June 21, 2018 by the OPTCL (subsequently followed by other power corporations), the non- executives are being paid the HRA and medicine allowance in the revised scale but the executives are being denied of the same.
Even though the OPTCL Board on July 28, 2018 had decided to maintain parity and pay the same allowances to executives, but it is not being issued yet, he further alleged.
They threatened that if the rights of engineers and officers are not restored immediately, they would intensify their agitation and march towards the Assembly seeking justice.
