Alleging that ruling Congress has breached its pre-poll promise of making the power tariff completely half and now has set a cap of 400 units, the opposition members staged a walk out from state assembly on Monday.
During Question Hour, Leader of the Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik raised the issue and asked question in the house as what was the scheme of government regarding curtailment of power bill to half. After all, for whom and whom the power tariff would be slashed down, he questioned.
Replying to his query the Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel informed in the House that domestic as well as the below poverty line consumers of the state would get the benefit of curtailment of power tariff from the month of March. The power bill of which would be charged in the month of April, he added. He further informed that power tariff till the consumption of 400 units would be charged half and thereafter which the existing rate would be levied. For farmers flat rates would be charged, he further added.
Dissatisfied over the binding of 400 units and no provision of relaxation for irrigation pumps for the farmers, the BJP members accused the state government of misleading the people of the state.
