Terming BJP’s “demonstration and pseudo inauguration” of expressway a political drama, the state congress on Monday said that the road could not be dedicated to the public unless it was safe for the commuters.

In a statement state spokesperson of the party Dhananjay Singh Thakur said how the government could inaugurate the expressway putting commuters at risk. The, expressway constructed by the previous BJP government was substandard and a probe into it was going on, he said.

Till lacunae were rectified the expressway could not be inaugurated by the Congress government, he said.

Leveling corruption charges in the construction of expressway worth Rs 293 crores, Thakur further said the BJP was concerned over the inauguration as the payments of contractor were pending.

Criticizing BJP spokesperson Shrichand Sundrani, Thakur further said if they were so much concerned why  they did not complete the structure on time and had inaugurated it during their regime.
