Wednesday, 21 August 2019 | Staff Reporter | Bhopal

About 374 metric tonnes of e-waste has been disposed in the State through scientific method.

This work is being done through 8 collection centres, one recycler and one manufacturer. E-waste includes electronic items such as computers, laptops, telephone sets, DVD players, mobile phones, CFLs etc.

The e-waste Management Rule is applicable in the Environment Protection Act in the state.

The purpose of this rule is to destroy electronic waste through scientific technique. The rule provides for the disposal of each e-waste only through recyclers registered with the Central or State Pollution Control Board.

Information about new scientific methods is regularly being provided by Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board through workshops for e-waste disposal.

The management of bio-medical waste is being undertaken in the state through scientific means. These wastes have been divided into 4 categories.

They have various methods of treatment such as incineration, autoclaving, microwaving, chemical disinfection, cutting, threading and land disposal as options.
