Former minister and two time MlA, Chaudhary Mahendra Singh was expelled from Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) for ‘anti-party activities’ on Wednesday. The action was taken after the BSP brass learnt about Singh’s move to switch over to another party.
Party sources confirmed that the top leadership was working to trace out leaders who were in touch with other parties and could join other outfit before 2019 Parliament election.
The BSP leadership recently learnt that Chaudhary Mahendra Singh, who represented Kol Assembly seat in 2002 and 2007, and was also a minister in Mayawati government, was in touch with some other parties and was waiting for the right time to leave BSP. After confirming the fact, the party expelled him on Wednesday.
BSP leader and zonal coordinator post of Aligarh/Agra zones, Ranveer Singh Kashyap said on Thursday that Singh was expelled as he did not submit membership fees and was also working against the interest of the party. Singh denied that he was indulging in anti-party activity.
Singh said that he was an old party loyalist and was a delegate when Kanshi Ram founded the BSP.
Singh was first fielded from Naseerpur Assembly seat in 1993 and later from Mangolpuri in New Delhi in 1998 elections. later he contested twice from Aligarh and won both times but he as denied ticket and fielded his wife Rajrani from Khair seat which she lost.
Singh denied not paying membership fees to the party and claimed that he failed to devote time to the party due to personal engagements which was conveyed to party chief Mayawati. He refused to comment on his next move saying that he till he was served an official BSP letter, he could not comment on the issue.
