In an apparent move to make the State administration more accountable to people in view of the BJP surge, CM Naveen Patnaik shifted as many as nine district Collectors and a host of other senior bureaucrats on Friday.

At least 14 IAS officers received new assignments, according to a notification issued by the GAD.

As per the notification, 2005-batch officer Anjan Kumar Manik was appointed as the new Kalahandi Collector while 2006-batch officer Roopa Roshan Sahu posted as the new Collector of Khordha. BS Poonia of 2008 batch was appointed as the new Collector of Dhenkanal while 2011-batch officer Reghu G was given the charge of Kendrapada district Collector, 2012-batch IAS Vineet Bhardwaj as the new Collector of Sundargarh and his batch mates Poma Tudu and Surendra Kumar Meena were posted as the new Collectors of Nuapada and Mayurbhanj, respectively. Burnda D of 2010 batch was posted as the Kandhamal Collector and senior OAS officer Khagendra Nath Padhi was posted as the new Collector, Bargarh.

While 2012-batch IAS Nikhil Pavan Kalyan was named as the new Commissioner of the Brahmapur Municipal Corporation, his batch mate Manish Agarwal was posted as the Dy Secretary in the Home Department. Shuvam Saxena of 2013 batch was named as the new CDA Vice-Chairman while his batch mate Madhusmita Sahu was posted as the OAIC and OSCDC MD. Senior OAS officer Digvijaya Nath Padhi was appointed as the new Secretary at the Chief Information Commission (CIC).  The notification further named 2004-batch IAS Niranjan Sahu as the Director, Industries and 2005-batch IAS Rajesh Prabhakar Patil, who was Mayurbhanj DM, was named as the OSIC MD. Patil would also work as the OSD, Odisha Skill Development Authority. Vjaya Kumar of the 2009 batch was shifted to Water Resources Department.
