Indore city BJP president Shankar lalwani has been appointed as chairman of the Indore Development Authority, while former IMC corporator lalit Porwal, city BJP leaders Harinarayan Yadav and Mohit Verma have been appointed as vice-chairmen. Rajesh Udawat, Vijay Malani, Virendra Vyas and Mrs Sitadevi Khandelwal have been appointed as executive members of the IDA.
With the end of the tenure of the then IDA chairman Madhu Verma and dissolution of the then IDA board of directors, the post of IDA chairman had been lying vacant since long. Currently Indore divisional commissioner Sanjay Dube had been holding additional charge of the IDA chairman in absence of a full-fledged IDA chairman. Though in the past one and half years, attempts were made on numerous occasions to fill vacant posts of the IDA chairman but due to pulls and pressures of the BJP leaders, the State Government consciously deferred the appointment.
Ironically, the State Government issued a circular of the appointment of the IDA chairman on the day schedule of the next Assembly elections was announced by the Election Commission of Indian in New Delhi. Now with the appointment of lalwani as IDA chairman, decks have been cleared for Malini Gaud as a probable BJP candidate from Assembly constituency No. 4 in Indore.
