GoAir hostess leaps to death after 'tiff'

Following an altercation with her husband, a 25-year-old woman working as an airhostess with GoAir committed suicide after leaping off the eighth floor of a highrise tower in Omaxe Heights, Naharpar, Sector 86 of Faridabad on Sunday night. No suicide note has been recovered yet.

The incident took place on Sunday night at around 11:30 pm when some security guards heard a loud thud. When they reached Tower No. 4, they found Indu lamba lying in a pool of blood. She was living with her husband Rahul lamba (28) in Flat 805 in the upscale highrise since 2012.

Police said Indu had a love marriage with Rahul lamba on 19 February 2012. Her husband, who works as a property dealer in Palwal, informed police about the incident and rushed her to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries in the early hours.

“We are investigating the matter and are questioning her husband and neighbours. Prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide. However, we are awaiting the inquest to be held after her parents arrive. Rahul revealed to police that he had a minor altercation with Indu over a trivial issue on Sunday night at around 10 pm. Rahul was sleeping when she leapt off the ledge,” said Sukhbir Singh (DCP) Crime, Faridabad.

Rahul first met Indu in 2011 when both were studying in Bengaluru and became friends. Rahul started working with a textile firm in Bengaluru and married Indu. The couple then shifted to Faridabad in 2012. Rahul belonged to Palwal in Haryana while Indu hailed from Bengaluru. “Rahul has informed Indu’s parents about the incident. We are waiting for their statements. The post-mortem will be done after her parents reach the city. We are trying to ascertain why she took this drastic step. Maybe her parents can shed light on this. We have sealed their flat and are examining her laptop and cell phone,” said Sanjay Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Faridabad Police. The post-mortem will be conducted in VK hospital on Tuesday.
