Delhi Metro flags off dry run on Phase III

In a big leap, the trial runs for the first project of Delhi Metro’s Phase III began on Monday. The first train for the trial runs on this section was flagged off from Central Secretariat Metro station by Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development and DMRC Chairman Sudhir Krishna and Managing Director, DMRC, Mangu Singh, in the presence of other senior officials.

The trial runs on this section are expected to continue for a couple of months. “Mandi House will serve as an additional interchange that will decongest Rajiv Chowk. Pressure on Rajiv Chowk station will be eased,” Mangu Singh said. Construction work for this 3 km underground section, which is part of the Central Secretariat-Kashmere Gate Metro line, began on May 11 and is expected to be opened for commuter by the end of March 2014.
