Delhi Assembly for the first time will host a cultural evening on March 30, to celebrate the auspicious occasion of the Hindu New Year, which commences with Chaitra Shukla Pratipada. This celebration marks the beginning of the ‘Vikram Samvat 2082’, a traditional Hindu lunar calendar era.
The function will be held at Delhi Legislative Assembly premise, Old Secretariat.
The event will feature performances by renowned singer and lyricist Kailash Kher and the Kailasa Band, with 1,500 distinguished guests invited to part in the festivities.
Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta on Thursday stated that this marks the first occasion of organising a cultural event for the New Year not only in the Delhi Legislative Assembly, but also in any other state assembly across the country.
He emphasised, “The Hindu New Year is not merely a change of date but a symbol of renewed energy and vitality. As farmers welcome new harvests into their homes, this festival holds profound economic and social significance, honouring the agricultural community, which has always been the backbone of our nation. It is a joyous opportunity to celebrate our culture and civilisation with enthusiasm, ensuring their rejuvenation and fostering renewed energy in all our lives.”
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will grace the occasion as the chief guest.
