Wayanad Landslide: Terrifying video online shows eyewitness warning ‘Run Fast’ as mud engulfs bridge

A chilling video capturing the moment a massive landslide struck near Meenakshi Bridge at Kalladi in Kerala's Wayanad district has surfaced, showing an eyewitness frantically warning people to "Run fast, friends" seconds before a huge mound of mud engulfed the road and bridge.
The landslide occurred on Tuesday amid heavy rainfall at the Anakkompoyil-Meppadi tunnel road project, which connects Kozhikode and Wayanad districts. The viral video, recorded from beyond the bridge, shows a massive accumulation of mud suddenly collapsing, uprooting trees and sweeping away barricades erected at the construction site.
The mudslide rapidly crossed the bridge, carrying along a parked tanker lorry before crashing into the opposite side, where several commercial establishments were located. CCTV footage from one of the shops showed people, including women, desperately trying to escape as the torrent of mud surged towards them.

In the dramatic visuals, a man and a woman were seen being swept away by the mud along with the tanker. Moments later, they emerged alive from the narrow space between the tanker and a parked jeep, completely covered in mud. Several others were also seen limping away after narrowly escaping the disaster.
The landslide also pushed a private bus, reportedly used to transport workers at the tunnel project, into a nearby river. The vehicle was later seen partially submerged as rescue teams continued operations in the area.
Subsequent visuals showed the bridge and its surroundings buried under thick layers of mud, raising fears that people could still be trapped beneath the debris. Personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Kerala Police and other emergency agencies have been deployed to carry out search and rescue operations.
The Anakkompoyil-Meppadi tunnel project, launched last year, is aimed at improving connectivity between Kozhikode and Wayanad. Authorities are investigating the incident while rescue efforts continue.
