Society eagerly marks Mother’s Day and Father’s Day with grand gestures every single year. Yet the absolute most important celebration for every child remains National Grandparents Day, falling this year on September 13. We become entirely consumed by relentless daily schedules while they spend long afternoons hoping a familiar face will walk through the door. Today provides the perfect excuse to finally leave those spreadsheets behind and travel to their home. We could spend a lovely afternoon turning the pages of old photo albums to share forgotten stories. Cooking a favourite traditional recipe together brings immense warmth to the house. Even a slow walk around the local neighbourhood creates a beautiful memory. Our physical presence remains the absolute greatest joy they could ever receive.
