Vijay meets Tamil Nadu Governor again amid suspense over government formation

TVK chief Vijay visited Lok Bhavan for the second time within 24 hours to meet Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar amid ongoing uncertainty over government formation in the state.
The actor-turned-politician remained inside the Governor’s residence for nearly 40 minutes. However, there was no immediate confirmation from either Raj Bhavan officials or the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) regarding whether Vijay formally met the Governor or received an invitation to form the government.
The development comes after Vijay staked claim to form the government with the support of the Congress party. On Wednesday, the TVK chief had submitted a letter of support from Congress MLAs to the Governor.
TVK emerged as the single largest party in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections after winning 108 seats in the 234-member House. Congress, which secured five seats, extended support to the party, but the alliance still remains short of the majority mark of 118.
Speaking to reporters, TVK leader VS Babu said the process of government formation would “happen soon,” but refrained from commenting further on political developments.
When asked about allegations of pressure from the Centre regarding government formation, Babu said he would not comment on matters he was unaware of.
The delay in a formal decision by the Governor has intensified political speculation in Tamil Nadu as parties continue discussions over possible support arrangements needed for forming the next government.
