TVK Govt will function with horse speed, says CM Vijay

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Wednesday said his Government will function with the speed of a horse delivering clean administration.
He assured that his administration would rigorously protect the rights of minorities, women, children, youth, farmers, and Government workers. His Government will be committed to secularism, social justice, transparency, and involved in public welfare. Speaking during the debate on the confidence motion, which he moved as mandated by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, in the Assembly, Vijay remarked that his Government would work with “horse speed” and deliver development rather than indulge in backroom political deals.
His remark comes amidst a charge by Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin, and AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami on alleged “horse-trading” in the wake of lone AMMK MLA S Kamaraj and AIADMK faction comprising 25 legislators announcing support to TVK Government in the Assembly.
“This Government is one that functions with the speed of a horse and not one that indulges in horse-trading,” Vijay said, adding development will be dispensed at full throttle.
DMDK leader Premalatha Vijayakanth also accused the newly formed TVK Government of “unethical” political manoeuvring to secure a majority in the House.
The chief minister successfully won the trust vote by securing the support of 144 MLAs, including 25 rebel AIADMK members and the lone AMMK legislator. Only 22 AIADMK members, including Palaniswami, voted against the TVK, while the DMK, with 59 members and DMDK’s Premalatha Vijayakanth walked out.
The CM also rejected the minority label.
“I assure you that this people’s Government will provide a democracy with conscience, and will run on the principles of secular social justice with equal opportunity. There will be no change in this,” he told the Assembly after winning the trust vote with 144 ‘aye’ votes.
Vijay said there would be no discrimination, as this would be a Government for the common man. “It is not a Government that intimidates but one that embraces everyone. It is not a Government that shows hatred towards anyone, but a Government that loves everyone. People and their welfare are important. That is our position. I once again express my gratitude to all who supported democracy with conscience,” Vijay said.
He alluded to the DMK and AIADMK, which stormed to power for the first time in the 1967 and 1977 elections, respectively, and said his TVK too emerged as a major force in the 2026 Assembly election, forming a Government for the common man.
“Within three years of inception, TVK made history by securing a victory, garnering 34.92 per cent vote share,” he said.
