Security Forces avert potential communal clash at Kanto Sabal

On July 11, 2026, in the afternoon hours, a crowd of nearly 600 to 700 persons attempted to advance towards Kanto Sabal, Imphal West district of Manipur, where an illegal block has been set up by another community, Ministry of Defence said in a press release.
Indian Army columns promptly intervened, with Manipur Police. It separated the opposing groups and prevented the situation from escalating into a potential communal clash. During the intervention, the crowd resorted to stone - pelting. Despite the provocation, Security Forces exercised restraint, remained steadfast and successfully brought the situation under control. In the meantime, certain miscreants attempted to set fire to vacant houses in the area. The arson attempt was swiftly contained by the Army and police, thereby preventing further damage and ensuring no loss of life.
The situation is presently under control and Security Forces continue to maintain a close vigil in the area.
