Search operations launched in J and K following terrorist sightings

After a brief lull, suspected movement of terrorists has been recorded in some of the border areas of Jammu division in recent days, prompting the security forces to launch massive cordon and search operations in the general area to prevent any targeted strike.
The latest incident was reported from Talot village of Udhampur district, where at least two suspected terrorists knocked on the doors of a resident, asking for food late Monday night.
The alert residents immediately raised an alarm after the suspected terrorists fled the area without receiving any food. Moving swiftly, a joint team of the security forces launched massive searches in the area to track down the footprints of suspected terrorists who were believed to have vanished in the forested area of Khuban in the close vicinity.
During the day, coordinated searches were launched by the joint teams of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF in Talot and adjoining areas. The security checkpoints were activated, and searches were conducted across vulnerable areas. Similar cordon and search operations were launched in the neighbouring districts.
According to official sources, security forces conducted searches in the Sadini forest area of Reasi and in several border villages in Kathua’s Hiranagar sector near the International Border, where suspicious movement was reported in the last 24 hours.Officials said the operations are part of heightened vigilance amid recent inputs regarding infiltrators andsuspicious movement in the region.
