Rajasthan CM directs to prepare blueprint for Abu Raj

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Sunday directed officials to prepare a comprehensive development blueprint for Abu Raj, earlier known as Mount Abu, keeping in view its tourism and spiritual potential, and environmental significance.
The government has rechristened Mount Abu, the sole hill station of the desert state and a prominent tourist place, as Abu Raj.
Chairing a meeting of development committee at Abu Raj, Sharma said development works should be completed in a coordinated and time-bound manner and directed the chief secretary and divisional commissioner to regularly monitor the projects.
The chief minister said world-class facilities related to urban development, roads, parking and transportation should be developed in Abu Raj to attract more tourists, a release said.
He instructed officials to undertake beautification of Nakki Lake and improve lighting, painting, stairway repairs, sewerage and other civic infrastructure works.
Describing Abu Raj as a land associated with seers and sages, Sharma said temples in the area should be documented to promote religious tourism.
The chief minister said the area’s cultural and environmental uniqueness should be preserved while ensuring transparency in the online token system and monitoring the movement of construction materials.
Sharma said the state government was committed to the principle of “development along with heritage” in Abu Raj.
He reviewed proposals including beautification of Vivekananda Park, strengthening and development of Guru Shikhar, development works at Arbuda Mata Temple and Dattatreya Temple, promotion of electric vehicles and development of the Bharat Mata Naman Sthal as Namo Udyan.
Officials discussed development projects worth more than Rs 100 crore for the hill station. Sharma also reviewed the progress of directions issued during previous meetings and said meetings of the development committee would be held regularly.
Earlier, the chief minister visited an exhibition showcasing ongoing and proposed development works in the area.
