Flash floods cut off roads in Himachal
Flash floods triggered by heavy rain disrupted road connectivity in parts of Himachal Pradesh’s Shimla district on Wednesday, leaving several villages temporarily cut off. Officials said a surge in the Ganvi Khad stream damaged a temporary bridge in Rampur subdivision, snapping road links to the twin panchayats of Kyao and Kut and causing hardship for residents. Videos circulating on social media showed commuters stranded on both sides of the swollen stream as locals attempted to restore access by clearing stones and debris. The flooding followed heavy rainfall in the upper reaches of the Samej Khad catchment on Tuesday evening, with strong currents submerging roads at several locations and disrupting traffic. According to the Meteorological Department, Jatton Barrage in Sirmaur has recorded 70.5 mm of rainfall since Tuesday evening.
