Om Prakash Vyas takes charge as Delhi Child Rights Commission Chief

Om Prakash Vyas assumed charge on Wednesday as Chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights, the statutory child rights body that had remained without a full commission for nearly three years.
Vyas called on Chief Minister Rekha Gupta shortly after taking office, where he pledged that all members of the Commission are committed to working round the clock to protect children’s rights, secure their future, and support their overall development.
The Chief Minister congratulated Vyas on his appointment and said she is confident the Commission under its new leadership will work with sensitivity, transparency, and accountability. She said the Delhi Government is not merely formulating policies for child safety but is continuously working to ensure effective implementation on the ground.
She said the Commission will play a key role in making ongoing child protection efforts even more effective.
Vyas, in his remarks after assuming office, said the child protection model being developed in Delhi, as the National Capital, has the potential to serve as an inspiration for the rest of the country. He expressed confidence that the efforts under way under the Chief Minister’s leadership would establish Delhi as a strong example in child protection.
He laid out his priorities for the Commission clearly. He said the Commission will work toward ensuring effective implementation of the POCSO Act and all statutory provisions related to children’s rights.
