Pakistan urges US and Iran to resume talks amid escalating Gulf conflict

Pakistan has called on the United States and Iran to exercise restraint and return to diplomatic negotiations as military tensions in the Gulf continue to escalate. The Foreign Office urged both sides to revive dialogue under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), warning that continued hostilities could threaten regional peace and stability.
The appeal comes after fresh exchanges of military strikes between Washington and Tehran, including US attacks on Iranian military targets and Iran's retaliatory missile and drone strikes on Gulf countries. Pakistan said diplomacy remains the only sustainable solution and stressed the importance of honouring previous commitments made under the Islamabad-mediated framework for talks.
Islamabad has maintained a neutral position throughout the conflict while offering to facilitate dialogue between the two sides. Officials emphasised that further escalation could have serious consequences for regional security, energy supplies and the global economy.
Pakistan also reiterated its commitment to supporting peaceful negotiations aimed at reducing tensions and preventing a wider conflict in the Middle East.
