Mangaluru bus conductor arrested for allegedly sexually harassing college students

A 32-year-old bus conductor was arrested in Karnataka's Mangaluru for allegedly sexually harassing college students onboard a public bus, police said.
According to police, the accused allegedly asked a group of college students to move to the rear of the bus before engaging in obscene and indecent behaviour. Following a complaint, police registered a case and arrested the conductor.
The incident has triggered concern over the safety of women and students using public transport in the region. Authorities said further investigation is underway to determine the full sequence of events and whether any additional charges may be invoked.
Police have appealed to commuters, especially women and students, to immediately report any incidents of harassment on public transport so that prompt legal action can be taken.
The arrest comes amid growing scrutiny of passenger safety on public buses in Karnataka following a series of recent complaints involving misconduct by transport staff.
