Justice Manoj Kumar Gupta appointed as Uttarakhand High Court Chief Justice

The Government on Thursday notified the appointment of Allahabad High Court Justice Manoj Kumar Gupta as the Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court. His appointment will follow the superannuation of incumbent Chief Justice G Narendar on January 9. The Supreme Court Collegium on December 18, 2025, had recommended Justice Gupta’s elevation as Chief Justice.
Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal announced that the President has cleared the proposal to appoint Justice Gupta as the Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court. Justice Gupta was the second senior-most judge of the Allahabad High Court.
He was elevated as an additional judge of the Allahabad High Court on April 12, 2013, and took oath as a permanent judge on April 10, 2015.
