Goa CEO says 88 of 97 voters left out after SIR have filed Form 6, applications accepted

Amid the ongoing debate over the deletion of voters from electoral rolls during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), the office of Goa's Chief Electoral Officer has said that 88 of the 97 voters left out of the electoral roll have filed Form 6 and their applications have been accepted.
Form 6 is used by eligible citizens to apply for inclusion in the electoral roll as new voters, according to the Election Commission of India (ECI).
The Goa CEO's office on Thursday released the status of all 97 cases, saying 88 voters had submitted Form 6 and their applications had been accepted. Of the remaining voters, three are Portuguese passport holders and six are currently outside India.
"In respect of the voters who are currently residing outside India, the concerned officials are making efforts to establish and maintain contact with them for further necessary action," the Goa CEO's office said in a post on X.
The excluded cases came into focus after The Indian Express reported that the verified electors could not be added to the electoral roll because the ECI's software did not allow the updates to be recorded.
The Goa CEO had earlier said Booth Level Officers (BLOs) visited the homes of the 97 voters, whose names were missing from the final electoral roll published in February 2026, to help them complete Form 6.
"Many have since been enrolled, while the remaining cases are being processed. It is reiterated that no eligible elector will be left behind," the Goa CEO had said in a post on X on September 24.
The CEO's office also said on Thursday that, following directions from the ECI, a special drive would be conducted across Goa to enrol eligible voters left out of the electoral roll as well as young and first-time eligible electors.
"The drive will focus on facilitating the enrolment of left-out eligible citizens as well as young and first-time eligible electors who have not yet been included in the electoral roll," it said.
The Goa CEO's office urged eligible citizens to participate in the drive and ensure that their names are included in the electoral roll.
“All eligible citizens are requested to avail themselves of this option and ensure that they are duly enrolled in the electoral roll,” it said. (with inputs from PTI)
