Delhi Metro shuts entry, exit at 11 stations amid protests call

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Friday closed entry and exit at 11 stations, including Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat and Jantar Mantar, amid protests announced by the Aam Aadmi Party and student organisations.
The protests have been called to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and alleged large-scale deletion of voters.
According to the DMRC, entry and exit at Janpath, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Rajiv Chowk, Seva Teerth, Mandi House, Lok Kalyan Marg, INA, Chawri Bazar, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg and New Delhi stations will remain closed until further notice.
The interchange facility, however, will continue to be available at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, New Delhi and Central Secretariat stations, the DMRC said in a post on X.
The AAP, All India Students' Association (AISA), National Students' Union of India (NSUI) and Indian Youth Congress (IYC) have announced protests at Jantar Mantar.
The organisations are demanding Kumar's resignation and have alleged that a large number of voters have been deleted from electoral rolls during the SIR exercise. (with inputs from PTI)
