Japanese Envoy Ono meets BJP Chief Nabin, discusses bilateral ties
Japan's Ambassador to India Keiichi Ono met BJP president Nitin Nabin here on Monday, with the two discussing a range of topics including the significance of 75 years of India-Japan diplomatic relations in 2027 and opportunities to deepen cooperation across sectors, the party said.
During the interaction, Nabin gave Ono an overview of the BJP's organisational journey, grassroots structure and functioning, the party said, adding that he also highlighted the party's extensive network of members and karyakartas, its Morchas and departments, the recently constituted national team, and the BJP's emphasis on continuous organisational engagement beyond elections.
Ono, for his part, elaborated on various Japanese initiatives aimed at further strengthening bilateral relations across multiple sectors, according to the party. Both sides discussed the significance of 75 years of India-Japan diplomatic relations in 2027 and the scope for deepening cooperation further, it said.
The BJP said the discussion also covered the "strong and growing" India-Japan relationship.
Nabin recalled the close personal friendship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and late former Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe, and their role in lending greater strategic depth and momentum to bilateral ties, the party said.
The BJP chief also recalled his interaction with a Liberal Democratic Party delegation led by Takayuki Kobayashi in May this year, it added.
Nabin acknowledged Japan's important role in India's development journey, including through the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project, and spoke about India's transformation under Modi in infrastructure, digitalisation, manufacturing, social development and internal security, said Vijay Chauthaiwale, in-charge of the BJP's foreign affairs department.
