Gurugram PG raid exposes alleged prostitution racket, 21 detained including foreign nationals
A joint raid by Gurugram Police and the Haryana State Commission for Women at a paying guest accommodation in Sector 38 has allegedly uncovered a prostitution racket, with 13 men and eight women, including foreign nationals, detained, officials said Sunday.
The operation followed information provided by a girl rescued by police on Saturday. During the preliminary investigation, she allegedly told police that she had been forcibly kept at a premises in Jharsa and provided details about the alleged racket operating from the PG accommodation.
Police have arrested Sahil, a resident of Jharsa village who is suspected of running the operation, along with his wife. Investigators said Sahil allegedly used WhatsApp and websites to facilitate the operation, with around 10-12 associates reportedly involved.
Acting on the leads provided during the investigation, the joint team raided the Sector 38 PG under the supervision of ACP Abhilaksh Joshi, the nodal officer for the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act (ITPA), and Haryana State Commission for Women Chairperson Usha Priyadarshini.
Police said a fresh FIR would be registered at Sadar police station under relevant provisions of the ITPA and the Foreigners Act.
Investigators are examining electronic material recovered during the raid, including mobile phones, CCTV footage and documents, to identify other alleged accomplices and clients. Authorities said further action would follow based on the evidence.
The raid came a day after several spa centres at Sapphire 90 Mall in Gurugram were also searched over alleged illegal activities.
