India to host World Dairy Summit 2027 in Mumbai

In a significant move for the global dairy sector, India is set to host the prestigious IDF World Dairy Summit (WDS) 2027. An agreement to this effect was formally exchanged on Thursday between Dr Meenesh Shah, Chairman of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), and Laurence Rycken, Director General of the International Dairy Federation (IDF).
The ceremony took place in the capital during the Indian Dairy Association’s 52nd Dairy Industry Conference. The event was graced by Chirag Paswan, Union Minister of Food Processing Industries, and Professor SP Singh Baghel, Union Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying.
The summit is scheduled to be held at the Jio World Convention Centre (JWCC), Mumbai, from 16 to 19 November 2027. This marks a quick return of the flagship event to Indian soil, following the successful 2022 summit in Delhi-NCR, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The 2027 edition will serve as a comprehensive platform for the global dairy community, featuring meetings of the IDF Board and General Assembly, technical committee sessions addressing global policy and innovation, and the participation of over 1,500 delegates, including policymakers, farmers, and tech providers.
India’s selection as the host follows a decisive vote at the 118th General Assembly in Paris in 2024. As the world’s largest dairy producer, India’s role in the IDF — an organisation uniting the sector since 1903 —remains pivotal. The summit will allow stakeholders to align on strategic directions, ensuring the sustainability and growth of the international dairy market.
