India Ranks 5th Among Most Spam Affected Countries Globally Truecaller Report Reveals

India has emerged as the fifth most spam-affected country globally, with telemarketing and sales calls contributing significantly to the rising nuisance, according to a report by Truecaller.

The report ranked Indonesia as the most spam-impacted nation, followed by Chile, Vietnam, and Brazil.

Based on anonymised data from Truecaller’s global user base of over 500 million, the study found that more than 68 billion spam and fraudulent calls were identified worldwide in 2025.

In India, the spam intensity stood at 66 per cent, with a majority of unwanted calls being commercially driven. Sales and telemarketing calls accounted for the largest share at 36 per cent, followed by financial services-related calls at 18 per cent.

Scam calls also contributed significantly, making up 12 per cent of the total spam activity in the country, highlighting ongoing concerns around fraud and digital safety.
