Independence Day 2026: 10 key takeaways from PM Modi's Red Fort address
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday addressed the nation from the Red Fort on India’s 80th Independence Day, laying out his vision for a developed India by 2047. 1. Modi unveils ‘Shakti Ki Sapt Dhara’

Modi said India should have at least 50 companies in the Fortune 500 as part of its ambition to become a global economic power.
3. 1 crore youth to get AI training
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that 1 crore youth will receive AI skill training over the next year.
4. Free online coaching for competitive exam
Modi announced free online coaching for young people preparing for competitive examinations, saying the initiative would help reduce the financial burden of coaching on poor and middle-class families.
5. Focus on semiconductors, critical minerals and energy security

9. Armed Naxalism eliminated, Modi warns of ‘dimagi Naxals’
Modi said armed Naxalism had been eliminated from the country and paid tribute to more than 3,500 police and security personnel who lost their lives fighting it. He said, “In our jungles, we have been successful in weeding out Naxals with weapons. But those with naxal mentality are still around. We have to find and isolate these dimagi naxals.”
10. Focus on energy security and critical minerals
Modi stressed the need to strengthen India’s domestic capacity in energy and minerals, saying dependence on external sources can make the country vulnerable. He also highlighted efforts to secure critical mineral supply chains.
