India is offering the world a new model of development: PM Modi in New Zealand

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India is emerging as a global model of development despite mounting international challenges, highlighting the country's rapid economic growth, digital transformation and technological advancements during an address to the Indian diaspora in New Zealand.
Speaking at the 'Kia Ora Modi' community event in Auckland, attended by New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, Modi said India and New Zealand share a relationship rooted in friendship, shared democratic values and people-to-people ties.
"Amidst global challenges, the speed at which India is developing is unprecedented. Today, India is the world's fastest-growing major economy," Modi said, drawing applause from members of the Indian community.
The Prime Minister said India is presenting the world with a new development model driven by innovation, digital infrastructure and technology.
"Today in India, billions of digital transactions are taking place every month through UPI. India is reaching new heights in drone technology and the space economy," he said.
Emphasising the growing strategic partnership between India and New Zealand, Modi said the future of both countries is closely linked and expressed confidence that the proposed bilateral trade agreement would strengthen economic ties.
"The bilateral trade agreement will accelerate India's journey towards becoming a developed nation and create new opportunities for businesses in both India and New Zealand," he said.
Modi, who arrived in Auckland on Friday on the final leg of his three-nation tour, also shared a personal memory with the audience. Holding up a muffler gifted to him during a visit to New Zealand nearly three decades ago, before he entered public life, he recalled his long-standing connection with the country.
The visit marks the first by an Indian Prime Minister to New Zealand in 40 years and is aimed at expanding cooperation in trade, investment, education, technology and the Indo-Pacific.
