Himanta Sarma says Rabindranath Tagore strengthened Bharat spirit

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday paid tribute to Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore on his birth anniversary, saying the legendary poet and philosopher strengthened Bharat’s spirit that later resonated across the world.
Remembering Tagore on the occasion of Rabindra Jayanti, Sarma said the literary icon’s timeless thoughts and contributions continue to inspire generations and guide society towards enlightenment.
In a post on social media platform X, the Assam Chief Minister said, “Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore not only enriched our literature and culture, but also strengthened Bharat's spirit, which later resonated across the world.”
He further added that Tagore’s ideas and works continue to pave the way for a more enlightened society.
Rabindranath Tagore’s birth anniversary is celebrated annually as Rabindra Jayanti on the 25th day of the Bengali month of Boishakh, also known as “Pochishe Boishakh”.
Tagore, who became the first Asian Nobel laureate, was born on May 7, 1861, according to the Gregorian calendar.
Widely regarded as one of India’s greatest literary and cultural figures, Tagore made significant contributions to literature, music, education and philosophy.
