Ex-servicemen outreach event held in Kohima

The Military Station Zakhama conducted an Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Outreach Programme on 09 July 2026 in Kohima district of Nagaland. The event was conducted for strengthening engagement with the veteran community and addressing issues concerning Ex-Servicemen and their dependents. The programme witnessed the participation of 24 Ex-Servicemen and four war widows from the region.
The event commenced with a welcome address highlighting the Army’s continued commitment towards the welfare and well-being of veterans and their families. An informative session on the SPARSH pension system was conducted by the Officer-in-Charge, Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) Station Cell, who apprised attendees of recent updates and procedures related to pension administration and grievance redressal.
The Director, Rajya Sainik Board (RSB), Nagaland, addressed the gathering on the latest welfare initiatives being undertaken by the Govt of Nagaland and the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare (DESW) for the benefit of Ex-Servicemen, widows and their dependents.
The Officer-in-Charge, Pension Cell, delivered a briefing on recent policies and directives concerning veterans. He also updated the participants on the progress of the construction of the new facility being developed to enhance services and support for the veteran community.
An interactive open house session followed, providing Ex-Servicemen and widows an opportunity to raise concerns, discuss challenges and seek clarifications on matters affecting their welfare. The discussions facilitated direct interaction with the concerned authorities and helped identify issues requiring further attention.
The outreach programme concluded with a community lunch, fostering camaraderie and reinforcing the enduring bond between the Armed Forces and the veteran fraternity.
