Delhi Metro refutes any chaos, puts in best measures to handle commuters

With footfall increasing in the Delhi Metro, appropriate arrangements have been put in place to manage passenger movement, and services continued across the network in a safe and controlled manner.
On reports of chaos at some of the stations, Delhi Metro said that while temporary crowding at major interchange stations during peak periods is not uncommon in a high-capacity urban transit system, isolated commuter experiences or temporary crowding at interchange stations during peak hours cannot be construed as evidence of systemic planning failure.
“Delhi Metro continuously monitors passenger movement and manages train operations across the network, including extra stoppage time at interchange stations, which witness high passenger movement. Passenger demand variations, particularly during peak hours and at interchange stations, are addressed through established operational protocols, including service regulation, crowd management measures and continuous monitoring. It is also noteworthy to mention that against the average weekday passenger journeys of 65-70 lakh reported, 19th May recorded approx. 67.65 lakh passenger journeys, indicating no unusual surge,” DMRC said in a statement to The Pioneer.
DMRC urged that news reports pertaining to the commuters’ services should be presented in a balanced way based on verified operational facts after cross-checking from the official spokesperson of DMRC. Responsible reporting based on verified facts is essential to avoid unnecessary public apprehension and misinformation, DMRC added.
