Rajendra Nagar MLA launches year-long anaemia-free campaign
Rajendra Nagar Assembly Constituency has started a year-long campaign to fight anaemia in the area. MLA Umang Bajaj is leading the effort, working with Dr Archana Bajaj, Apollo medical staff, and the Rotary Club of Delhi West Metro. The programme supports the government’s ‘Sabka Swasthya’ goal.
The campaign holds free health camps every Sunday in different parts of Rajendra Nagar, focusing on areas that need more healthcare support. The programme mainly helps women and children. Over 52 weeks, the camps return to the same places for follow-up tests and ongoing care for people with low haemoglobin or other health problems. A data system tracks registrations, test results, and services. The campaign hopes to reach 10,000 women in 10 to 11 months, with each camp helping 200 to 250 people and a monthly goal of about 1,000.
“The goal is bigger than one constituency; it is about contributing, in my own way, to a healthier and stronger India,” Bajaj said.
He also said, “True change begins when healthcare reaches the people who need it most. By working consistently, area by area, we can identify health concerns early and allow every family to live a healthier life.”
At each camp, medical staff and doctors handle registration, screening, consultations, treatment, and follow-up. Free services include haemoglobin and blood tests, blood pressure and sugar checks, weight checks, eye exams, ECG, osteoporosis and bone-mineral density tests, and medical consultations.
