Delhi: Man kills girlfriend, attempts suicide

A woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her boyfriend at a hotel in Delhi's Lahori Gate area on Thursday, September 3, after which the accused attempted suicide by consuming poison, police said.

Hotel staff discovered the woman lying in a pool of blood inside the room on Thursday, September 3, morning and alerted police, according to the officials. She was declared dead at the spot.

The accused, a native of Rajasthan, and the victim, who hailed from Bihar, had checked into Hotel Prince on Wednesday, September 2, evening, police said.

According to police, the man allegedly attacked the woman with a knife during the night, leaving her critically injured. He then consumed poison in an apparent attempt to end his life, they said.

The accused was rushed to a hospital following the incident, police added.

The woman's body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and further investigation into the case is underway, police said.
