Bullet train girder launched in 135 minutes in Vadodara

Construction work on India’s first bullet train corridor achieved another milestone after a 40-metre-long heavy girder was successfully launched near the Vadsar Road Over Bridge in Vadodara.
The operation was carried out at one of the city’s busiest traffic junctions, making it a technically challenging task for engineers involved in the high-speed rail project. Officials associated with the project said the work was completed within a short railway block of about 2 hours and 15 minutes through careful planning and coordinated execution. More than 100 trains reportedly pass beneath the bridge every day, while nearly 70,000 vehicles use the overbridge, adding to the complexity of the operation. The girder launching process involved the use of advanced engineering techniques and specialised cranes. Authorities said the work was executed without causing major disruption to either railway operations or road traffic.
The successful completion of the launch is being viewed as a significant step forward for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor and highlights the increasing pace of infrastructure development in the Vadodara section of the project.
