AIADMK alleges DMK malpractices in TN polls; seeks ECI action

AIADMK leader IS Inbadurai on Monday alleged that the ruling DMK was involved in “electoral malpractices” in several constituencies during the Assembly polls held on April 23 and urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) to take action.
Alleging that the DMK has “distributed money to bribe the voters,” the AIADMK leader, who is also a Rajya Sabha MP, claimed that in Coimbatore and Karur, “several malpractices” were done by the DMK.
“In Coimbatore South constituency, DMK candidate had distributed gold coins to the voters”, he alleged.
Stating that the AIADMK had already lodged a complaint with the ECI against alleged malpractices by the DMK, he demanded that the ECI take action. Asserting that his party will win polls and form the Government, Inbadurai expressed confidence that AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami will be the next chief minister.
He said the people of Tamil Nadu wanted “change of Government,” and added that the “AIADMK is the only saviour” of the people.
He praised late chief minister J Jayalalithaa as an “unmatched leader in Indian political history.”
She achieved so much during her tenure, and those accomplishments benefited women and their empowerment.
She introduced 50 per cent reservation for women in local bodies and set up all-women police stations.
The Tamil Nadu Assembly is 234-member strong. Vote counting is set to take place on May 4, and the result will be known the same day.
V Senthil Balaji is the DMK candidate in the Coimbatore South segment.
The DMK has put up a big fight to retain power, and its archrival AIADMK has similarly shown determination to bounce back and form the Government after being in Opposition for 5 years.
