A story of resilience: Shrishti’s brave path to NEET re-exam

On a Sunday morning in Kolkata, Shrishti Dubey sat for an exam that could change her life. As a NEET aspirant from the city, she faced many reasons to stay home. Only a week before, on 14 June 2026, a serious road accident left her with nine broken ribs and severe lung injuries.
She had major vascular surgery and needed artificial ventilation. Her recovery had just begun, and she still needed oxygen and a chest drain. When the re-NEET exam came on 21 June, she decided to take it. Her story shows her determination and the support she received from others.
Her family contacted the authorities to explain her situation, and the National Testing Agency responded. At Binodini Girls High School in Dhakuria, Kolkata, her exam centre, special arrangements were made. She got a separate room on the ground floor. Doctors and paramedics from ILS Hospital stayed with her during the three-hour exam. An ambulance waited outside, and she was allowed to take the test with her medical equipment.
On the day of the exam, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan spoke with her parents. By evening, Shrishti had finished her paper. Her family thanked the minister, the NTA, and the medical team for helping their daughter continue her dream of becoming a doctor while she was still recovering.
Stories like Shrishti’s remind us that every NEET roll number belongs to a young person with hopes, pressures, and personal struggles.
In a year full of uncertainty and re-exams, her choice to attend, with the help she received, is a true example of resilience.
We hope her recovery goes well and her hard work pays off. In times like this, compassion can help turn pain into purpose.
