2025 A Year in Style

The year 2025 represented a philosophical turning point for fashion. The industry adopted a slower, more reflective posture, and clothing began to function less as momentary stimulation and more as cultural text — something to read, interpret and inherit.
Preloved fashion rose from niche interest to symbol of discernment, signalling taste informed by history rather than consumption alone. Luxury drew its strength from narrative, provenance and craftsmanship.
The year was defined by a massive shift in how we value clothing. Moving away from the “Peach Fuzz” optimism of 2024, the world embraced a grounded, sophisticated aesthetic. It became an age of “Endless Runways,” where preloved garments achieved prestige, and emotional resonance replaced fast-fashion chaos. The industry paused, reconsidered its purpose, and began to rethink what luxury should mean.
At the intellectual centre of 2025 stood a renewed belief that heritage is knowledge. Techniques once kept in archives re-entered high fashion with confidence. This sensibility took visual shape through the Brown Revolution: Mocha Mousse created a language of stability and memory, lifted by the soft optimism of Butter Yellow and the cool clarity of Icy Blue. The palette felt intentional, structured and calm.
The Met Gala, themed Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, read almost like an essay on identity and precision. Indian designers shifted from representation to authorship. Shah Rukh Khan’s Sabyasachi ensemble placed Indian luxury at the centre of global discourse, Diljit Dosanjh’s ceremonial tailoring expressed cultural pride, and Kiara Advani’s sculptural maternity look framed couture as language.
The year also encouraged reflection on legacy. With the passing of figures such as Giorgio Armani and Rosita Missoni, fashion engaged seriously with proportion, restraint and longevity. Even its playful moments - Labubu collectibles, the return of ballet pumps - revealed a desire for familiarity and objects designed to endure.
In essence, 2025 advanced a new ethics of dressing: thoughtful acquisition, respect for craft, and awareness that garments participate in cultural memory. It set the stage for a more conscious decade ahead and now, with measured curiosity, we look to 2026.
