On a visit to the Bhopal Central Jail, the Secretary In Charge of the Madhya Pradesh State Legal Services Authority, Pradeep Mittal, on Saturday interacted with inmates and provided vital legal guidance.
During the visit to the prison complex, Mittal saw the kitchen, industries operated within the jail, the octagonal office, and the jail legal clinic.
The visiting official met all the male prisoners, discussed their issues, and listened to their concerns. He also inspected the women's ward, spoke with the women and children, and provided guidance on legal assistance.
Mittal gathered information regarding legal assistance provided to the prisoners and informed them about appeals, Undertrial Review Committees (UTRC) schemes, premature release, parole furlough, and financial assistance for bail under National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) schemes for underprivileged prisoners.
During the inspection, the jail administration was instructed to display pamphlets and banners regarding all legal provisions in the jail.
Following the inspection, a Legal Awareness Camp was organised at the prison complex. During the camp, Mittal encouraged prisoners to take part in various training programs run within the jail to help them integrate into mainstream society after their release.
