The year 2024 was full of achievements for Jharkhand Police. IG (Operations) AV Homkar, CID IG Asim Vikrant Minj and DIG Personnel Naushad Alam held a press conference at Jharkhand Police Headquarters on Tuesday and said that Jharkhand Police arrested 244 in 2024.
Homkar said that a total of 244 Naxalites were arrested in the year 2024, including one SAC member, two zonal commanders, six sub-zonal commanders and six area commanders.
The IG said that so far in the year 2024, 24 Naxalites have surrendered before the police. These include four zonal commanders, one sub-zonal commander, three area commanders and one member. Apart from this, nine Naxalites were killed in police-militant encounters in the year 2024. Apart from this, large quantities of weapons were recovered.
Hokar said that in the year 2024, a total of 1295 cases related to cyber-crime came to light, in these cases the police arrested 971 accused. Police recovered 2118 mobile phones, 2905 SIM cards, 606 ATM cards, 165 passbooks of different banks from them, along with Rs 8.17 crore in cash and Rs 77.20 lakh in the account was frozen.
The IG said that Jharkhand Police took strict steps to prevent drugs in the year 2024. During this period, a total of 788 cases were registered in the state, in which 1362 accused were arrested. Police recovered 1407.1 kg. Opium, 18.290 kg. Brown Sugar, 36.45 grams of Heroin, 4251.2 kg. Ganja, 55333.54 kg. Doda, 7115 intoxicant tablets, 4434 capsules, 10222 bottles of cough syrup, 1720 injections and Rs 1.82 crore were recovered. Apart from this, illegal opium cultivation on 3974.985 acres of land was destroyed.
Homkar said that in the year 2024, a total of 97 cases related to organized crime were registered in Jharkhand, in which a total of 154 criminals of organized gangs were caught.
The IG also said that the State's Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) also arrested four Al Qaeda terrorists from different districts in collaboration with a joint team. Apart from this, ATS arrested 7 accused in cases related to Jharkhand Tourism Development Corporation and Jharkhand State Electricity Employees Master Trust, he said.
Homkar said that Jharkhand Police Headquarters constituted a board and promoted many policemen in the state on the basis of recommendation. Apart from this, 2 boards were formed under Jharkhand Police Assistance and Welfare Fund and Rs 3.89 crore was paid to 1232 beneficiaries. 1 board constituted for Jharkhand Police Education Fund distributed 1 crores to 8242 beneficiaries, he added.
