AAP, BJP coming up with memes, posters and spoof videos ahead of Delhi Assembly polls

Tuesday, 14 January 2025 | Staff Reporter | New Delhi

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are locked in an interesting game online. Both parties are coming up with memes, posters and spoof videos to take a dig at each other ahead of Delhi Assembly Elections.  The BJP on Monday posted an image that showed AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal in the attire of 'Mogambo', the iconic villain from the movie Mr India.

In the post, BJP has claimed that Arvind Kejriwal has insulted people of Purvanchal region.

Less than half an hour after that, AAP posted a spoof video showing Amrish Puri (same actor who played Mogambo) telling Amit Shah that BJP will not win a single seat in the upcoming elections.

The BJP’s social media post on X took a swipe at Kejriwal, claiming that the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) stance against the Purvanchal region had been exposed. The  poster, captioned “Purvanchaliyon se Nafrat ki Aag (fiery hatred against people from Purvanchal),” targets Kejriwal over his alleged insult to the Purvanchali community by terming some voters as "fake."

The post read, “AAP’s anti-Purvanchal face has been exposed before the whole country! People from UP-Bihar living in Delhi are fake for Arvind Kejriwal. But are Rohingya and Bangladeshi infiltrators his friends?” (AAP ka purvanchal virodhi chehra poore desh ke saamne benkaab ho chuka hai! Dilli mein reh rahe UP-Bihar ke log Arvind Kejriwal ke liye farji.

Lekin Rohingya aur Bangladeshi ghuspaithiye inke yaar?)

In a swift response, AAP fired back with a spoof video.

The video, posted on X, parodied the BJP’s poster and included a fictional conversation between Kejriwal and Union Minister Amit Shah. The Party in the X post said, "Seeing defeat in front of me in Delhi, BJP is in a fix.” (Dilli mein haar saamne dekh, BJP ke haath-pair phool gaye)

AAP also hit back with its own satirical take, spoofing a scene from the 1996 Ajay Devgn starrer Diljale.

The parody video posted on X featured a fictional conversation between Amrish Puri’s character, Dara, and a deepfake of Union Minister Amit Shah.

The spoof video featured the following dialogue: Kejriwal: "Lagta hai. Dilli mein phir aaj haar saamne dikh rahi hai." Amit Shah: "Haar ka to mujhe bhi poora darr hai.

Lekin abhi mera focus khaata kholne mein hai." Amrish Puri: "Dulha kahaan hai, vision ka hai, sirf gaaliyan hain.

Dilli mein Kejriwal ne kaam karke dikhaya hai aur tumne sirf gaaliyan di hain. Gaaliyan. Dilli ke chunaav mein kaam ki baat hoti hai.

CM face hota hai, CM chehra hota hai. Chunaav CM chehre ka hota hai. Kabhi dekhi hai koi bin dulhe ki baraat. Nahi. Kyunki bin neta ke chunaav nahi ladte." Amit Shah: "Lekin khata to khul sakta hai." Amrish Puri: "Are khata bhool ja, 1 bhi seat bhool ja. Ye mahila bhi tujhe kabhi vote nahi dene wali."

This new poster and video exchange is part of the ongoing "poster-video war" between AAP and BJP. Both parties have been actively posting Bollywood-inspired content, with spoof videos and movie posters taking center stage on their respective social media handles.

Meanwhile BJP shared another poster with a caption, "Arvind Kejriwal is the mastermind behind the Rs 2,026 crore liquor scam."

Both parties have been vying for the powerful Purvanchali vote bank in the national capital.

The BJP also accused the AAP of prioritising illegal settlements of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis in the city.
