UPCC ex-chief served notice in FICN racket

Thursday, 26 September 2024 | PNS | Lucknow

Close on the heels of arrest of two Samajwadi Party leaders amongst the 10 held for supplying Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN), now trouble is in store for former president of Uttar Pradesh Congress Ajay Kumar Lallu as the investigating agency served notice on him in the said case.

As Lallu’s photo appeared adjacent to one of the arrested accused, Aurangzeb, the Kushinagar district police chief served him notice in the case. seeking his explanation on the issue.

Lallu, however, dared the police to interrogate him, claiming that he will give answer to all the queries as the move is nothing but a “political” game plan of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party to harass leaders of the opposition parties.

He alleged the Kushinagar police were trying to derail the investigation.

Along with this, Lallu also said that the police were trying to give a political and religious colour to this matter.

“Kushinagar police are making statements against me under political pressure. I will give a complete and appropriate answer to the questioning,” Lallu asserted while demanding that the police make a fair investigation and not be influenced by their political masters.

Earlier, Lallu raised questions on Kushinagar police in this matter on social media. He said that the FICN accused who were paraded on a wheel chair by Kushinagar police with plasters on their legs, could later be seen going with the police on their own feet without plaster after the hearing.

“This is clear in the video. DGP Uttar Pradesh should tell whether this plaster was just a show? Was it PR? Was there any agenda? The public wants to know the truth,” Lallu said on social media platform `X’.

It may be mentioned that in Kushinagar district, the police had arrested 10 people while exposing a fake currency racket. SP leader Rafi Khan was among those arrested. Rafi Khan was the kingpin of the fake currency syndicate.

Exposing this big gang printing counterfeit currency, police recovered counterfeit currency with face value of Rs 5.62 lakh from them. Police also recovered eight laptops, 26 SIM cards, 10 pistols and bombs along with a luxury car from them.

According to information received from sources, Naushad Khan, who is the national vice-president and an official of the Sanskriti Cell, has also been arrested by the police. This gang used to be active from Nepal to India. Kushinagar police are now making further investigations into the matter.
