District Election Officer (DEO) and Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Bokaro, Vijaya Jadhav, led a crucial training session for polling officials at DAV Ispat Public School, Sector 2C, BS City, in preparation for the upcoming 2024 General Assembly elections. The training, targeting Presiding Officers (POs) and supporting polling staff, focused on adherence to Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines and smooth, error-free execution of polling duties.
DC Jadhav underscored the importance of understanding the Handbook’s Do's and Don'ts, especially emphasizing that police personnel are prohibited from entering polling booths. She also outlined the comprehensive webcasting setup, enabling live monitoring of all polling activities from district headquarters, the Chief Electoral Officer's office, and the ECI.
The DC emphasized the importance of managing queues and time efficiently. Polling staff were briefed on the EVM-VVPAT commissioning program, materials handling, and compliance protocols around polling centers. DC Jadhav reminded officials to clarify any doubts during the session, stressing the need for precise adherence to instructions to ensure the integrity of the voting process.
Key areas covered included real-time vote percentage reporting every two hours, mobile phone restrictions, and protocols for handling tender votes and postal ballots. Practical demonstrations with EVM-VVPAT machines were also provided to reinforce understanding and confidence in using the technology on election day.
In attendance were key officials, including Postal Ballot Nodal Officer Vandana Shejwalkar and Media Cell Nodal Officer Avinash Kumar Singh, who supported the session’s comprehensive overview of election day operations.
