To improve MMR, orientation, training session on health organised

With a view to improving maternal mortality rates, the district health department organised an orientation and training session on Ferric Carboxymaltose and Iron Sucrose Infusions at Hamidia Hospital on Wednesday.

The training covered the dosages, administration methods, precautions, and protocols related to Ferric Carboxymaltose and Iron Sucrose.The orientation was conducted for doctors from various government and private hospitals in the district and took place in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department at the top tertiary care facility in the city.

The session was addressed by the Dean of Gandhi Medical College, Dr Kavita N. Singh; the Director of Maternal and Child Health, Dr Aruna Kumar; the Joint Director of Maternal Health, Dr Archana Mishra; Dr Anjali Kanhere; Dr Gurpreet Nandmer; and Dr Shabana Sultan.

The training focused on the early identification of anaemia during pregnancy, therapeutic management of anaemia, types and causes of anaemia, severe anaemia conditions, and intravenous iron therapy.

The experts explained in detail the process of administering Ferric Carboxymaltose and Iron Sucrose in cases of moderate to severe anaemia.Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Prabhakar Tiwari said that anaemia is one of the leading causes of maternal mortality. Early registration of ANC (Antenatal Care), prenatal tests, high-risk pregnancy clinics, and the Extended Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan specifically monitor anaemia during pregnancy.
