Three policemen were killed in different districts of Jharkhand in the last 20 days. Two of these policemen were shot dead. While one policeman was killed by hitting with an iron rod and strangulating him.

Out of the three murders, the criminal involved in only one case was arrested by Gumla police. The criminals involved in the other two incidents are still out of police custody. If we look at the statistics of police killings in the last four years in Jharkhand, ten policemen including two inspectors were killed by criminals in different districts of the state. While four policemen were also injured by the criminals' bullets.

On July 29, Abhishek Oraon, a jawan of Sahebganj district police and a resident of Tithi village of Gumla Vishunpur police station area, was shot dead in Gumla. The incident took place in Netarhat valley. A criminal gang named Rahul Singh took responsibility for this incident. Gumla police arrested Neeraj Kumar Mishra alias Rinku Pandit, a criminal involved in this case. The arrested accused has admitted in his statement that Abhishek Kumar was murdered because of not getting illegal commission in the purchase and sale of land in Netarhat.

A sub-inspector posted in the Special Branch in the capital Ranchi was shot dead on August 2. The body of a sub-inspector named Anupam Kachhap was recovered from Ranchi Ring Road. 16 days have passed since this incident. But till now the criminals involved in this murder have not been identified.

A case of major security lapse came to light in Hazaribagh. Here, prisoner Mohammad Shahid Ansari, admitted in Sheikh Bhikhari Medical Hospital, escaped after killing policeman Chauhan Hambrom posted for security on the night of August 11. Shahid Ansari was convicted in Dhanbad for murder and rape. On January 11, 2019, he was brought to Hazaribagh from Dhanbad jail from security point of view. Shahid Ansari was lodged in Hazaribagh jail for about five years. Even after six days of this incident, the police have not been able to arrest Shahid.
