Ranchi witnessed an exhilarating Cyclothon event on August 17, 2024, in support of the ‘Everest Summit 2.0 – Beyond The Mountains’ initiative. Flagged off by Tenzing Jamling, the event saw enthusiastic participation from over 100 people, starting at 5:30 AM from JAP-1 (Shaurya Sabhagar), Doranda, Ranchi and covering a scenic 23 km route that led to Dhurwa Dam and back. This whole event took place under the monitoring and support of Jharkhand Police.
The Cyclothon was organized under the leadership of Rajeev Gupta, Founder Director of the Ignite Foundation, with the collaboration of CCL, CyberPeace Corps, Adani Power, Swachhata Pukare, and Pratigya. The event was further energized by the participation of Everest summiteers, including the renowned Poorna Malavath, the world’s youngest Everest summiteer who scaled Mt. Everest at the age of 13 years and 11 months along with other participants - Mandeep Singh, Sushant Tirkey, Vandana Khemka, Suman Lal, Saurabh Shekhar, Pinki Murmu and many more.
Among the notable summiteers who joined the Cyclothon were: Tenzing Jamling, Sharad Kulkarni, Dr. Murad E. Lala, Debraj Dutta, Satyarupa Siddhanta, S. Karthikeyan, Poorna Malavath, Dr. Usha Hegde, Prakrit Varshney, Jyoti Ratre, Meenu Kaliraman, Anand Kumar, Toolika Rani.
The event concluded with the finishers being awarded medals and certificates, recognizing their achievement and participation. This Cyclothon was not just a physical challenge but also a celebration of the human spirit and determination, leaving a lasting impact on the local community and beyond.
