The five-day Herbal Healers Workshop was inaugurated at Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya Bhopal by Minister of State for Tribal Affairs, Government of India, Durga Das Uikey. In the conference, three Padma awardees Yanu Lego, Lakshmi Kutty, Arjun Singh Dhurve were honoured by Union Minister of State Uikey by presenting them shawl and memento. Earlier, under the Maa Ke Naam Ped Abhiyan, Union Minister of State Uikey and J Nandkumar also planted two coconut trees at the Coastal Village Exhibition. On this occasion, the tribal society of Assam and Mizoram honoured Uikey by presenting him a shawl. The booklet of research summary was also released by the guests at the conference.
Minister Durga Das Uikey said on this occasion that our country has been world famous for its unique medical knowledge and traditions since ancient times. The tribal society has lived in harmony with nature for centuries and has developed traditional medical practices by skillfully using medicinal plants, herbs and other natural resources. These methods are not only helpful in treating physical diseases but also play an important role in maintaining mental and spiritual balance. The knowledge that our tribal healers possess is not just a means of treatment but it is also a precious part of the cultural heritage of our society. The Manav sangrahalaya is not only documenting these traditional medicines and treatment methods, but is also promoting their scientific research so that the general public can get maximum benefit from them.
On this occasion, Dr. KG Suresh, former Vice Chancellor of Makhanlal Chaturvedi Journalism and Communication University, said that this is not only a symbol of revival of traditional medical practices of our country, but is also an important step towards preserving the rich and deep cultural heritage of our tribal society.
National Convener of All India Pragya Pravah, J Nandkumar said that India's tradition of dialogue is from West to East. He said that Lok means originality. Expressing his views on Sanatani contemporary view, he also gave important information about Lok Manthan to be held in Bhagyanagar.
Senior IAS and Director of Tribal Research Institute, Vinod kumar said that nature teaches us. He talked about documenting tribal knowledge. Museum Director Prof. (Dr) Amitabh Pandey highlighted the contribution of the tribal society. He talked about preserving these heritages of the tribal society.
