Team Atishi, pothole hunting on city road

Facing criticism of potholes and broken roads, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and her five cabinet ministers, accompanied by several Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, including former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia and senior officials of Public Works Department  (PWD) inspected roads  in the national capital on Monday as part of the government’s road assessment and repair initiative. This is the first time that the entire Delhi Cabinet was on the roads to assess the road's conditions. After the inspection, Atishi said that she found the roads at NSIC Okhla, Modi Mill flyover, Chirag Dilli, Tughlakabad, Mathura Road, Ashram Chowk and its underpass in a dilapidated condition.

There was a very big pothole at the U-turn at Modi Mill flyover. Also, the upper surface of the road was found broken. Due to which vehicles have to slow down here. All the pot-holes will be filled here and the road will be repaired within a week. The road at NSIC, Ring Road was cut towards the footpath due to laying of BSES wire, but the road was not repaired after laying the wire. At the Chirag Dilli flyover, many pot-holes were seen on the road below the flyover. Also, the black-top of the road was uprooted.

The Tughlakabad Extension road was cut from the side due to laying of wire, but it was not repaired. Ashram Chowk is one of the busiest intersections in Delhi. During inspection here and in many parts of Mathura Road, large pot-holes were seen which are obstructing the traffic. Due to water on the road of Ashram Underpass, many pot-holes have been formed here too. Also, the black-top of the road has started getting uprooted.

Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj and former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia inspected roads in east Delhi and found roads are bad condition.The road has been dug up in many places to lay the pipeline in Ganesh Nagar and it has not been repaired even after 4-5 months. Due to rainwater accumulation in many places, potholes have formed in the roads. Sisodia, in a post on X, alleged that the BJP sent him and former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal to jail in fake cases to stall the work being done by the AAP government for the people of Delhi.

Minister Gopal Rai inspected Noor-Ilahi Road, Yamuna Vihar and Wazirabad Road in northeast Delhi.During inspection, Rai found that the road was dug up by Delhi Jal Board, after which the road was not repaired and the condition of this road is very bad.

Minister Kailash Gehlot inspected the roads of Najafgarh assembly constituency. During this, he inspected Najafgarh-Bahadurgarh road along with PWD engineers and officials. The condition of these roads is very bad.  After this, he also visited Najafgarh-Dhansa road, where the upper layer of the road from Khaira turn to Mitraon Chowk has completely deteriorated due to water logging. Many potholes have also formed on the road due to the sewer line of Delhi Jal Board.

He inspected the roads in Naveen Place and Sainik Enclave of Najafgarh on Najafgarh-Jharoda Road and found that potholes had formed on the road due to rain. Minister Imran Hussain inspected Paharganj Chowk, Sadar Thana Road, Multani Dhanda, Idgah Road, Deshraj Bhatia Marg in Paharganj Assembly.

 In Sadar Thana area, IGL has laid a gas pipeline on this road. After laying the pipeline, IGL has not repaired the road. Therefore, this road is broken. Instructions have been given to do patchwork on it. In Multani Dhanda, garbage was found accumulated on this road. Due to this, the road is very dirty. In Idgah Road Chowk,

it was found that there is a water pipeline under the road, which is leaking and that water is coming on the road. There are potholes at the Idgah Road intersection as well.

At Deshraj Bhatia Marg, garbage is accumulated on the divider of this road. Minister Mukesh Ahlawat, inspected Rohtak Road in Delhi and said that the road has suffered a lot of damage due to continuous rain for the last one and a half months.
