A 28-year-old Swiggy delivery agent was allegedly stabbed to death in Delhi's Rohini by a teenager following an altercation over a common female friend.
According to the police on Friday, the incident took place in Vijay Vihar area on Tuesday when some boys stabbed the victim multiple times. The victim has been identified as 28 year old Deepak while the accused has been identified as 19 years old Nikhil Tomar, alias Neeraj, who is a resident of Delhi’s Nithari.
According to police, the two men had an altercation last week over the woman that escalated. However, police are still ascertaining the number of boys involved in the stabbing. According to a police officer, atleast two men were present and efforts are being made to nab the remaining.
“On Wednesday at 5:20 pm, a PCR call regarding the stabbing of a person near Nirankari Bhawan was received at Vijay Vihar police station. Upon enquiry, it was found that the injured had been shifted to the hospital, where he was declared brought dead by the doctors,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Amit Goel said.
A case under section 103(1) (Punishment for murder) of BNS was registered at Vijay Vihar police station and investigation was taken up. "Both the victim and the accused had criminal backgrounds,” Goel stated.
The officer added that on the day of the incident, the deceased was going on his motorcycle in a lane adjacent to his house, where he was waylaid by some persons and stabbed multiple times. The victim had a past criminal history and three criminal cases were found registered against him.
About 200 CCTV footage were analysed and Tomar was identified that led to his arrest. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime and disclosed information about his accomplices, who are currently on the run.
Tomar also revealed that his enmity with Deepak grew due to their common female friend which led to the murder. “As per the version of the accused, deceased and accused had a common female friend and over whom, they developed enmity between them.
